CALL FOR APPLICATIONS:
RENEGADE SET BUILDING WORKSHOP FOR DANCERS/ PERFORMANCE ARTISTS
A free, skills development workshop where performers will develop sills to design & make basic backdrops to enhance their performance videos.
This workshop is facilitated by visual artist Scott Eric Williams, and choreographer Louise Coetzer in collaboration with Darkroom Contemporary.
Participants also engage with Darkroom Contemporary’s latest photographic public art project, /kɑɹˈtɑɡɹəfi/ where they will experience a location shoot, learn wheat paste skills and form part of the public activations of the final works.
In light of the current focus towards presenting work online, our workshop intends to assist young dance practitioners in learning skills to produce basic backdrops and environments in which to perform and create video art. Our workshop is about Renegade Set Building and recording dance performances.
WORKSHOP DATES: 1 - 17 September, part time engagement. Full schedule will be confirmed with successful applicants.
Space is limited, successful application candidates will be notified by 28 August.
The workshop takes place online and through real space engagements.
All workshop materials will be supplied and participants will receive their own set build kit for future projects.
This skills development opportunity is made possible through support from the National Lotteries Commission & UCT’s Institute for Creative Arts.
